I must admit I despair with the quality of our current politicians, and the politicization of the upper and mid levels of our Public Service. 

If we have to pay so much to our politicians, some of whom have such generous pensions for such little work, and Senior Public Servants, do we get value for money?  Do we get visionaries or someone with their sites set firmly on the next election?

Or am I just a little to cynical? I have no doubt there are some politicians there to do a good job for their constituents and the country - just don't expect to see too many of them on the front benches!  maybe my opinions are influenced by the machine behind politics!? where politicians answer to the party not the people.

I am waiting for someone to prove me wrong......things like Queensland legislating that it is permissible to lie in parliament just get me......mind you, I think I'll be waiting a while.
