Crowd controllers, in Queensland, are defined under the Security Providers Act 1993, as amended.  The legislation is a State by State consideration, the Australian states are gradually aligning with each other with regards controls and requirements.

A crowd controllers main purpose is to maintain order in and around a public place, for example a Hotel, night club or rock concert.

They are generally well dressed in a form of 'uniform'.  They are unarmed.  They may have communications equipment, as well as recording equipment.

They must display crowd controller identification.  This is usually in the form of a card displaying the word security in 10mm high, 2mm thick letters as a 30mm high, 4mm thick number with the name of the venue under it.

Our staff will use verbal judo, in preference to violence.  They hold no 'special' powers.  They have the right to protect themselves.  They may ask people to leave an area, on behalf of management.  They may evict intoxicated or violent people (refer Liquor Act).  They may refuse entry.  They may demand proof of age from people entering licensed premises.  They have a duty of care to people being threatened, or abused, within the premises where they are working.  They have less of a duty of care to the person doing the threatening or abusing.

Where people produce false identification our staff are within their rights to retain this and hand it to the police for further action.

The nightclub strip is considered 'high risk' in that you are continuously handling drugged, and intoxicated, persons in a less than secure environment.

Our staff pride themselves on professional conduct, however, they are not employed as punching bags nor objects for abuse. They may use force, when neccesary.
