A security guard or bodyguard licence, depending on the State you operate in. For some overseas area's this is not a pre-requisite.
A valid driver's licence. An international license is also handy.
A passport, if you intend working overseas.
Special skills or experience. This may include CPP courses within a police force or service, private CPP courses, operational experience, special skills with open hand, closed hand or vehicle operation.
For those with maritime skills, the highest class of license available to you, radio operation and navigation skills.
For outback work, 4wd skills, and advanced medical skills.
Flexibility in your approach. Good physical condition. Honesty, integrity, table manners and the ability to keep your mouth politely closed.
Discretion and tact are highly valued qualities in CPP staff. There will be no writting a tell all book about your experiences - as we all know, there are times when we may be asked to tell who we have protected, DON'T.
WE NEVER NAME NAMES (this includes when you're trying to impress someone), WE NEVER DESCRIBE ANYTHING THAT MAY IDENTIFY OUR CLIENTS, WE ARE PAID TO PROTECT THEM AND THEIR PRIVACY.
Good dress sense, neat and casual or formal as needed. Remember function before form. There are available dress shoes with tread that allow you to move quickly. If overseas you can purchase tailored suites in asia, at a reasonable price. Hair cuts are not expensive. Neatly trimmed fingernails on gents (clean). Dental hygiene (that means cleaning teeth) and breath freshners are also handy.
Image is generally important to our clients.
Carry a grab bag in the boot with changes of clothes, deodorant, spare batteries etc. Neat and tidy.
As with all jobs CPP is 99% boredom, 1% adrenalin and 1% frustration.
I know that's 101%, but that's what we are expected to give.
As some of you will be aware in the current theatres of war, and also on the home front, people are willing to cut their, and everyone elses, throats to get a job.
We are not interested in cut price. Cheap service is just that, a service with the corners cut. We intend to provide a first rate service, for this we charge a first rate price.
